Dr. S. Radhakrishnan infact appeals to the progressive thinkers of India that it is in their hands to mend the system today which has lost its original appeal. Today it may have utility beyond recognition become associated with inequality and spirit of exclusiveness; but it can be restored to its original ideals and be made to serve Hindus and India in its own unique manner. This may bring back its positive glory to Indians. He says,

“The different castes represent the members at different stages on the road to self realization. It recognized that a man can raise himself to the highest level by his own efforts and attain spiritual freedom to escape from the tyranny of time.”
